Casino War

Casino War is a casino card game that is primarily based around the very common game we all know as War. War is a very simple game to play where one must have a higher card than their opponent. For example an Ace would win the "War" against an Eight. The concept of this game is very easy to understand and is very fun to play.

The betting for this game is also very easy. Players put down their bets and if the dealers hand is higher than the players hand then the player loses the bet. In contrast if the players hand is higher than the dealers hand then the player wins the bet. The amount that either the dealer or the player may win is equal to the amount that the player bets.

In some cases a tie may occur where both the dealer and the player have the same card.  If this occurs the player has two options: 1. The player may surrender his bet, but in doing so the player will lose half of his original bet. 2. The player can go to "WAR" and the player must make an additional wager equal to the size of the original wager.

This will occur if the player chose option 2 from the list above. The dealer begins the war by first burning 3 cards. After that he will deal each the player and himself an additional card. At this point if the players card is higher than or equal to the dealers card the player will win a bet equal to his original bet ONLY.  If the dealers card is ranked higher than the players card than the dealer will win BOTH the original bet and the bet made when they went to war.

Casino War House Advantage

Casino War is played with 6 decks each having 52 cards. The game would seem like it would be even with both the player and the dealer having a 46.3% chance of winning with the other 7.4% for ties. As seen above though the house advantage takes place in the case of a tie where the player can only win the original bet while the dealer can win both bets. Some casinos will offer a bonus payout in the case of a tie, but this is not a guarantee.

Casinos may vary with the number of decks in play (increase in decks equals an increase in dealer advantage) and with the amount of bonus payout (increase in bonus payout equals an increase in the player advantage). The house advantage is generally 2%, but this number changes from one casino to another. In the case of a tie, surrendering has a slight advantage for the house so players are told to never surrender.
