Rules of Keno
Playing Keno is very similar to playing your local lottery. If you get a thrill when you watch the numbers being pulled, you will probably love playing Keno. It is one of the easiest games that you can play, as well as being quite fun. The game play is straight forward and although it may seem complicated at first, a few rounds will prove that it's very easy.
The Object of the Game
The players are provided with a paper that has 80 numbers on it. This is very similar to the lottery tickets where you fill in the numbers that you think will be called. There are 20 numbers in each round and the point is to predict the most numbers in each 20 number round.
So, in the first round, you will select between 1 and 15 numbers, hoping that the numbers you selected are the numbers that get called. You also have the option in certain places of allowing the computer to choose numbers for you. This is very similar to a 'quick pick' with your local lottery.
While it may be superstitious, many Keno players prefer choosing their own numbers and feel as if they will have a better chance of winning if they do. The truth is that it doesn't affect the chances of winning at all.
Betting
If your number is chosen, you have gotten a hit. The payoff for this hit depends on your selection during betting. For example, if you bet $1, $3, or $5.Most places only allow a maximum bet of $5, so your hit will pay out the amount that you have bet.
Depending upon how many hits you have and what your bet was, your payout will differ. Also, in most places, you do not get a payout for one hit, but rather a certain amount of hits depending upon how many numbers you have chosen and what your initial bet was.
Versions of Keno
There are many different versions of Keno. Depending upon where you play and if you are playing at an online casino, a real casino, a video Keno machine or an actual Keno machine, they can all be different. Usually, with a real Keno game, the numbers will be displayed on a television for you to check off.
The time of the game also depends on which kind you are playing. The real Keno games with the televisions usually last longer than the quicker video versions. Which one you play is purely dependent upon your own personal tastes, how fast you want the game to go and which one you find more fun and interesting.
Strategies to Keno
Although Keno is a random game that is really based purely on luck and the random chosen numbers, there are some Keno tips that seasoned Keno players keep in mind. One of the most important points is to analyze the game that you're going to play before you make any bets. Make a mental note of the numbers which seem to keep getting called and which numbers aren't getting called often or at all. While this may not affect your chances of winning, there are different places where this will make a difference.
Another important point is keeping a balance between the amounts of numbers that you draw. Because winning depends on how many of your numbers are hits, with a higher amount of numbers chosen, you will need a higher number of hits to actually win.
However, if you choose a very low amount of numbers, you may get more hits, but the payout will generally be lower as well. For these reasons, you will need to maintain a balance that will actually allow you to have good chances and win good payouts. Most seasoned Keno players choose between 4 and 8 numbers each round.
Many people are quite superstitious when it comes to Keno, the same way they are with the lottery. They will choose birthdays, anniversary dates and ages as their Keno numbers. Although this makes for a fun game, it has absolutely nothing to do with winning or losing.
As stated above, Keno is purely random numbers, so winning only means that you're lucky; not that you've selected the 'right' numbers. Keno is a great game and a favorite of many different gamblers. Give it a try and see what you think!
