Roulette Odds

Roulette can often be like a rollercoaster ride with its fast paced, exciting game play. It is entirely possible for someone to be up one minute and down the very next. It's this excitement which has made Roulette so beloved among gamblers. If you have never played, you should learn a bit about the bets you can make and the odds you have with each one. So, without further ado, here is some information that will help you understand Roulette bets and odds.

How to Bet

The first thing you should know is how to bet. Each player will start by betting at least the table's minimum bet. So, if your table is a five dollar minimum, you will need to use five $1 chips and so on. You can either place these chips on one number or on a combination of numbers.

You want to make sure you make your bet before the dealer calls 'no more bets' so that your bet will count. Any bet that is made after the ball is rolling will be void. Players also use various Roulette Systems to try to beat the game.

Betting Inside

Betting inside basically means that you are betting on just numbers. So, if you were feeling pretty lucky and decided that your lucky number was 3 and you only wanted to bet on that number, you would be betting inside. You would also be betting inside if you wanted to bet on three or four numbers at one time. In order to bet on only one number, you would put your chips on that number. Easy enough, right? So, say you want to bet on two numbers. You put your chip on the line which is between the two numbers.

However, if you want to bet on three numbers together, such as in the 0, 1, 2 or the 0, 2, 00 or the 2, 3, 00, you would put your chip on the outside line which borders the three numbers you want to bet on. For four numbers, you will place your chips on the corner that connects the four numbers. There is only one five number bet and that is the 0, 00, 1, 2, 3. You simply put your chip on the line which connects these numbers to bet on them. Finally, to bet on six numbers, your chip will be put on the outside line of two rows of three numbers.

Betting Outside

The outside bets are really fun and most beginners start with outside bets. Remember that you have to bet at least the table minimum and you should check to see if the table has limits as to how high you can bet as well. If you want to bet on dozens, or a set of 12 numbers, you simply put your chip on one of the boxes marked 1st 12, 2nd 12 or 3rd 12. You will win if the ball lands on one of the numbers which is inside your 12 numbers.

If you want to bet on one of the columns of numbers, you just place your chip at the bottom of one of the columns. Betting red or black is probably the favorite bet and all you have to do is put your chip on the box of the corresponding color that you want to bet on. Finally, if you think an even number will hit, place your chip on the even box and if you think an odd number will hit, place your chip on the odd box. For each of these bets, 0 and 00 will be losers.

Payoffs

If you place your chip to bet on one individual number, and if you win, you will be paid thirty five to one. The higher the risks, the better the payoff is of course. If you want to bet on two numbers and have placed your bet at the middle line of two numbers, you will be paid seventeen to one.

Should you want to bet on three numbers together – if you win- you will be paid eleven to one. If one of your four number bets win, you will be paid eight to one. If you bet on five numbers and win, you'll be paid six to one, and if you win the six number bet, you will be paid five to one. Not bad!

For outside bets, if you win dozens or columns, you will only be paid two to one. Also, if you bet on red or black, odd or even, or the 1-19 or 19-36 rules, you will be paid an even amount. Now that you know the ins and outs of Roulette, get out there and have a great time!
